What do you think about:
- Someone who says they care about you but keep giving you things that are bad for you.
- Someone who persuades you to be reckless and then condemns for it afterwards.
- Someone who says they are your friend but are never available.
- Someone who doesn’t follow through on their promises.
- A person who keeps dragging you into situations that leave you feeling like a bad person.
- Someone who lies to you all the time.
- A friend who keeps saying they have the answers but you aren’t asking those questions.
My guess is that most people would say that’s not someone they would hang out with. Actually, I think many people would take it a bit further and warn their friends about them. But sadly, many people might actually be hanging out with this person more than they think.
See, the person I tried to describe above is the satan. You might think, how could anyone hang out with that guy? Well, the reality is that he doesn’ show himself for who he is. He is very good at lying and so deceives many into believing that he’s not as bad as they say. Satan has some freedom right now to influence and rule.
To some, he has done this directly and this is why devil worshippers exist. But to others, he has done this a little more indirectly. The bible tells us in
2 Corinthians 4:4 tells us “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
So many are deceived by satan indirectly when they follow unbiblical worldviews. This world makes some many promises but never seems to come through, at least not long term. These are some other verses that describe who satan is. John 8:44, John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 11:14, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Revelation 12:9, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10
On the other hand, we have God who is described like this in the scriptures:
Matthew 10:30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Jeremiah 1:5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
In God is where our heart’s desires are met. God knows better then we know ourselves and wants to put on a path to eternal fulfilment. God wants to show what and abundant life looks like. If God cares to know how many hairs are on your head, don’t you think he cares about the most insignificant things to the most important things in our lives?
He does, but it’s going to require faith on your part to let go of what you think is normal. You’re going to have to put your trust in God and his faithfulness.
