One Decision To Your Best Spiritual Year Ever

[spacer height=”20px”]It’s the end of the year so my guess is that you are making plans for next year, at least when you get a free minute from all the holiday madness.

And I would say that all those plans require many decisions.

What would you say if I gave you one decision that trumps all decisions?

Yup, that’s right, just one decision!

I want to help you make one decision that will help you have the best spiritual year ever.

Why is this one decision so important?

Luke 16:13 Imagine you’re a servant and you have two masters giving you orders. What are you going to do when they have conflicting demands? You can’t serve both, so you’ll either hate the first and love the second, or you’ll faithfully serve the first and despise the second. One master is God and the other is money. You can’t serve them both.

In this passage, Jesus hits on one of the most controversial items in religion – money. People can’t stand that the church asks for money. They don’t even think that the pastor should get paid and if he/she does then it should be a very small amount.

I believe Jesus goal was not to say money was bad. It was to say that how your heart reacts to money is bad.

So with that in mind, we can replace the word money with whatever else your heart is reacting sinfully to.

One master is God and the other is success. You can’t serve them both.

One master is God and the other is sex. You can’t serve them both.

One master is God and the other is fame. You can’t serve them both.

One master is God and the other is relationships. You can’t serve them both.

One master is God and the other is health. You can’t serve them both.

These are not really bad things in and of themselves. What makes them bad is how our hearts react to them. Your heart should beat for only one master.

One Decision To Your Best Spiritual Year Ever

So based on Jesus said in this passage, the #1 best decision you can make for 2017 is to serve Him as your only master.

Your heart was not made to be divided. It’s impossible to serve two. Your heart doesn’t have enough love or willpower to do it.

Hudson Taylor said it this way, “Christ is either Lord of all, or is not Lord at all”.

The one decision to your best spiritual year ever is to make Jesus lord of all.
