Cause-and-Effect Paralysis

Ever feel like every decision causes you to stop in your tracks?

You have a decision to make but you just can’t seem to make because there are too many what-ifs attached?

Maybe it’s not even the decision that stresses you out anymore, but instead, it’s the inability to make a single decision.

I call it the cause-and-effect paralysis.

Cause and effect paralysis

It’s what happens when we come up to a decision that we think will determine the success or failure of the rest of our lives.

Our internal dialogue goes something like this: if I don’t go to this school I’ll never get the job I want- And if I don’t get the job I want, I won’t make enough money- And If I don’t make enough money, I’ll be stressed and miserable for the REST OF MY LIFE!

We think it all depends on us, but…..not really! Proverbs 16:9 tells us that The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

God is really in control not you

Luckily for us, God is in control!

Proverbs 16:9 tells us that The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

We may think that it all depends on us and that if we are not 100% accurate in our decisions, then our lives will unravel. But the reality is that we have a loving Heavenly Father who watches over us.

There is peace from your anxiety

If you are like me and are constantly stressing out about your destination, remember that God is in control.

Don’t let the cause-and-effect paralysis take your joy and keep you from moving in the direction you feel God is leading you today.

Put it in God’s hands and pray Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Soul Check:

What decision are you procrastinating on because of fear?

Are you living as if God is in control or as if you are?

Is your day filled with anxiety or the peace of God?
