At least a couple of movies come to mind, where someone is trying to please God or obey Him.
The movies make the interaction between God and the person to be very cold and impersonal.
It’s almost like God doesn’t talk to them unless He wants them to do something for Him.
The character impersonates someone who is beat down by guilt.
Guilt that comes from an unloving God’s high expectations.
So they begrudgingly obey the command which is normally something that seems unfair to everyone including those watching.
What does god want?
How Hollywood Got What God Wants All Wrong
Matthew 23:27 gives us an account of a very harsh remark that Jesus makes at the religious leaders, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.”
God is building a family
God is building a home
Revelation 21:1 “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…”
[Tweet “It’s about more than just obedience, it’s about a new home – Revelation 21:1 “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…””]
God is bringing a people to himself because He is preparing a new home for His family.[spacer height=”20px”]
Don’t settle for Hollywood’s description of what God wants. It is so far from the truth. God is a good heavenly father that loves you and is preparing you for something greater than you could ever imagine.
