The Unconventional Guide to Transformations

Why Your Transformation Never Works Out The Way You Planned

Luke 19:45-46 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”

In the passage of Holy Scripture we just read, Jesus comes in a does something that might seem out of character because we want to think of Jesus as meek and mild. We have this almost timid image of Jesus.

But that’s not the reality.

Jesus walks into the temple. A place that was supposed to be sacred and set apart for worshipping God. What people have done is turned it into a business and disguised it as something spiritual.

They have convinced themselves that there is nothing wrong with what they are doing because they are providing convenience to those who come to worship God.

Jesus comes in and does more than rearranges the furniture. He cleans house.

Jesus gets furious at what He sees happening in the temple, which is where people would go to meet with God and does something about it.

So how does this apply to you?

In Corinthians 6:19-20 Paul tells the Corinthian Church that the temple has been relocated, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

Your body is now the temple where God resides. The reason you are not seeing transformation might be because you have disguised some unholy things as Holy.

And if you reread the story in Luke 19 thinking about Jesus walking into the temple of your heart what would He see?

Would He see some unholy things disguised as Holy?

This might be why you are not seeing the transformation you would like to see.

Transformation Not in One Easy Step

If you want transformation, you will have to let Jesus come in and clean house. If you want transformation, it will come at a price.

You will have to give Him access to every area of your life because he knows how to take the mask off of those things that we have disguised has holy. And you have to be willing to let Him do more than “rearrange the furniture”.

Your body is a temple and you need to let Jesus wreak havoc in it.

Transformation will not come in one easy step. You will not like what He has to do, but it will be worth it.
