Expect the unexpected
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
How often are we surprised that what we were seeking after came in a completely different package then we ever imagined? Or how many different decision are you glad didn’t materialize because they would not have been in your favor?
My life is a living testament to this.
As I look back there are numerous times where I’m glad God’s grace protected me from myself.
At the moment however my reaction, and yours as well, is not quite that kind. We lift a fist or look with confusion at God and wonder why things are happening the way they are. Or plead with Him to answer our prayer.
In that moment we are absolutely certain that we know what we need:
We need that:
We are so certain, we almost feel like we know better than God.
But I don’t and you don’t either. The fact that we are in a much better place then we could ever imagine is proof of that.
Expect God’s best
Proverbs 16:9 (NLT) We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
It’s okay to plan and dream. But be ready for an unexpected turn of events at any given moment.
Go ahead and bookmark those chapters of your life where God completely surprised you with His plans. If you will take time to reflect you can see how He gave you your heart’s desire but it came in God’s timing and in a way only God could package it together.
Don’t forget that as a child of God, He will direct and guide your steps. We can’t always understand why things happen or understand why they even happen the way they do but we can trust in God. He is the best gift giver and the best life planner.
I’m always surprised how God does things. He likes to keep things interesting that’s for sure.
