Christianity is about priorities and if the order isn’t right everything else will be misaligned

Prioritize

Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Christianity is about priorities and if the order isn’t right everything else will misalign.

There’s plenty of areas we understand this.

  • Foundation before the House
  • Horse before the buggy
  • Cause before the effect
  • Work before play

Prioritizing for Christians starts with you choosing to make God exalted above all and seeking His kingdom first.

And it doesn’t happen by chance.

Sin distorted our priorities and so our tendency is to put ourselves first, not God. Adam and Eve placed themselves first and chose their own ways instead of God. They exalted themselves over God.

That’s priorities on display – it was them first then God.

Our priorities show others who we think should be on the thrones of our hearts – Us or God.

This is why we must work to exalt God above all.

So how can you do this?

It starts with private devotion.

Every day you have to make the decision to dethrone yourself and exalt God.

And I believe the best time is before you even leave your house.

In the privacy of your home just between you and God is where you reorient your view and your heart to focus on God.

When you choose to prioritize God every day you will be filled with His presence from your private devotion and you will start your day ready to live a life of service to others and worship to God.

Your private devotion to God is what fuels your faith life in public.

Prioritize – decide who will be first in your life – you or God.
