You’re not the only one who struggles with it

Luke 22:61-62 (ESV)
And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”  And he went out and wept bitterly.

We’re not that different

Have you ever struggled with something, and believe you are the only one struggling with it?

I know I have.

  • Fear gets the best of me and almost paralyzes me.
  • My thoughts get out of hand and all I can see are the worst case scenarios.
  • I can’t seem to match my faith with my desire to serve God.
  • I, like Peter, have denied Jesus with my words and actions.

But when I read the scripture and in it, I see that the disciples struggled with faith and struggled with trusting Jesus to the point of denying Jesus out of fear. And I think, well, I struggle with the same things.

It makes me realize that I’m not the only one.

Peter one of Jesus’ closest disciples struggled with things that I struggle with.

He wasn’t exempt, I’m not exempt and neither are millions of other humans on this earth.

That means that whatever you’re facing right now you’re probably not alone there’s someone else struggling with the same thing.

The amazing thing about this is that it gives you a chance to be ministered to and a chance to minister to someone else.

There is help for you

You are not the only one who struggles with this.

That means that there is someone who has already walked down that same road. They can share their struggles and help you get through this difficult time.

They know how you feel and can be there for you in a way someone who hasn’t struggled with the same thing can’t.

You can help someone

I’ve heard it said different ways: Your misery can become your ministry or your pain can become your purpose.

How you say it doesn’t matter as long as you use it for the good of others.

You can help someone get through what you’ve been through. Don’t let your struggle go to waste, help someone else.

You can share with them some Bible verses you memorized to help you get through it and Pray with them the prayers you wish someone would have prayed for you.

Good works prepared in advance

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.

God has good works for us and I can’t help but think that some of those come through your pain and struggles.

You can use your experiences to help others feel and see the love of God. And He can do the same through other’s pain and struggles.

Take a moment and ask God to bring someone in your life to minister to you. And then pray for God to bring someone into your life that you can minister to.
